Isle Of Man

Event: Lighthouses Challenge

Date: July 9th 2016

Routes: The Lighthouses Challenge offers three course distances, 100, 57 and 37 miles. The full course will take a clockwise route from the historic TT Grandstand in Douglas and takes in some 2500 metres of climbing, including the Southern classic climbs to Cregneash and the Sloc. Participants can then recover over the northern plains before tackling the shorter but steeper climbs along the north east coast back into Douglas. There are three well stocked feed stations en route to enjoy at your leisure located at Port Erin, Patrick and Ramsey with additional supplies at the finish. The Medium & Short routes continue to follow the main course over the stunning climb of the Sloc. The short route continues back to Douglas via the Round Table and Foxdale. The Medium route will turn short of Peel at the second feed station at Patrick and return to Douglas via Archallagan, Braddan and Abbeylands.

The 9th of July 2017 sees the seventh edition of the ‘Microgaming Lighthouses Challenge’ sportive event supported by Microgaming Isle of Man.
This is a classic training ride from bygone years taking in the Island’s lighthouses (where possible!) and most of the Island’s coastline. The long route is not for the faint hearted and on a good day, Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales can be seen.
The Isle of Man is a beautiful place to ride a bike, on or off road, and combined with fantastic ambassadors such as Mark Cavendish, Pete Kennaugh & Mark Christian the level of world interest in Manx cycling has never been higher. It is hoped that the event becomes a permanent fixture on the UK sportive calendar and will assist in raising funds for future Isle of Man cycling teams at events such as the Commonwealth Games.
